Thriller Series (2020)

Scott’s Thriller series originated where the majority of his work begins, in the process of sourcing materials. A range of found images from thriller genre movies allowed the artist to begin a new range of experiments in composition and aesthetic.

Alongside the concept of “no waste collage” that Scott was exploring in his practice, the Thriller Series allowed an abstraction from the source to create elements of mystique and intrigue. The highly dramatised imagery attracts the viewer to active elements within the narrative of each piece. The strict use of incisive cuts creates compositions whose shape reflects the content of the original image.

Using the titles of the original movies to title each of the works in the series, Scott playfully offers the viewer a glimpse at the source through collaged anagrams.
